My name is Yukinori Nagatani, a special Associate Professor at KEK, the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (Ibaraki, Japan). My subject is the technological fusion of electron microscopy and accelerators, and am conducting projects of muon microscopies in particular. My research themes started with theoretical physics including quantum field theory in various spaces, where I discovered the formation of spherical domain walls by Hawking radiation around a black holes and its applications to cosmology (PhD, Nagoya University, 1999). I developed new methods to measure and stimulate biological activity, down-sizing of ultra-high voltage transmission electron microscopes by using linear accelerators, and new phase contrast methods for TEM and X-ray imaging. I am interested in almost everything related to physics, whether theory or experiment. My hobby is thinking while running.
