Maryam Abdus-Salam
Monash University, VIC, Australia
- This delegate is presenting an abstract at this event.

Maryam is an earth science enthusiast with a PhD in mineral exploration geoscience. Her doctoral qualification was through winning a highly competitive African Union Commission scholarship as the only Nigerian recipient of the scholarship in that year. She has worked as a geology lecturer for more than 10 years, starting as a teaching assistant and reaching the senior lecturer cadre. She has proven experience in the supervision, mentorship, and completion of training of undergrad and graduate students across multiple institutions. She has equally worked as a geological consultant for about 5 years.
She has a diverse skill set, including the ability to manage projects and solve problems within industrial and academic settings. Her research interests and collaborative efforts for scientific investigation are more focused on sustainable exploration, energy solutions, and clean water initiatives.
Dr. Maryam has excellent written and verbal communication skills. These communication skills can be demonstrated by her ability to write research findings and present the findings at conferences, symposiums, and seminars. Recently, her paper on water quality assessment in a major African urban centre applying a novel mathematical algorithm won two conference prizes for Best Paper.
Currently, her postdoctoral research focuses on simulating hydrothermal processes through experimental and numerical methods.
She enjoys spending time on adventurous activities with her children, creating meaningful experiences together.
