Andrew was awarded his PhD at The University of Sydney in 2014 for his thesis entitled 'Towards improved atom probe analysis of solid solution atomic architecture'. Since then he has continued to work under Prof. Simon Ringer at the Australian Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis (ACMM) as a postdoctoral research associate focusing on the development of atom probe analysis techniques. Particular areas of interest include crystallographic analysis, advanced reconstruction approaches and accurate 3D atomic scale tomography. Andrew has a background in mechanical and materials engineering and uses atom probe tomography to help understand structure-property relationships of engineering materials at the atomic level.
