I’m currently working at the Cryo Electron microscopy facility at the University of Wollongong, as the CryoEM, MicroED, and Electron Tomography Microscopy Specialist. With nearly four years at the University of Wollongong, my expertise lies in Cryo elelctron microscopy and electron crystallography, particularly within the realms of microcrystal electron diffraction (MicroED, also called 3D ED), electron tomography, and challenging data analysis through DIALS. My mission is to advance the frontiers of structural biology through cutting-edge electron microscopy techniques. By aligning with the University's commitment to innovative research, I contribute diverse perspectives and robust technical skills to bolster our collective scientific endeavors. Last year has seen me manage the Light microscopy unit at Molecular Horizons Institute of UOW, enhancing the research capabilities of both academic and industrial collaborators. I was originally trained in Chinese academy of sciences in hydrobiology and microscopy with research focus in taxonomy and ecology areas. Later I obtained a PhD in molecular microbiology from the Huazhong Agricultural University, followed by a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in bioengineering area at University of Ottawa in Canada. Previously I worked in School of chemical engineering and pharmacy at Wuhan Institute of Technology for many years as a Lecturer then Associate Professor, and gained extensive experiences in teaching, leading research teams, developing and managing laboratories, and research work from gene cloning and protein expression to cell culture and down-stream large scale fermentation via bioreactors.
