Duane LOH is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and the Department of Biological Sciences, as well as a Principal Investigator at the NUS Centre for Bio-imaging Sciences. Duane’s research combines statistical physics, optics, and machine learning to create novel “computational lenses” for x-rays and electrons that help us see and navigate the fleeting and chaotic nanometer-size world. His research also uses machine learning to help co-create a “language model of disorder” in complex materials, interacting cells, and how vector-borne diseases spread in human populations.
