Ranming Niu graduated from the University of Sydney (USyd) in 2020. Since then, he has joined the Australian Centre for Microscopy & Microanalysis (ACMM) at the University of Sydney as a postdoctoral researcher, focusing on advanced microscopy techniques. Utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as in-situ electron microscopy, aberration-corrected transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and atom probe tomography, he is dedicated to elucidating the relationships between composition, microstructure, and mechanical properties, particularly in extreme environments such as hydrogen exposure. His contributions to uncovering the mechanisms of hydrogen embrittlement have laid an important foundation for developing durable materials suitable for hydrogen energy applications, which are critical for the rapidly growing hydrogen industry. Dr. Rao has played a key role in multiple projects with a total funding of up to AUD 3.7 million, focusing on investigating hydrogen embrittlement in steels using advanced microscopy techniques.
